We are all aware that practicing is the road to mastery. Practicing allow you to learn scales, chords, and even how to perfect your own technique and sound. In order to grow, these exercises are needed. Now, what if I told you that regardless of how much time you spend practicing your craft, it will be a waste of time if you don’t have certain psychological skills?
WOW, did I just say that? Yes. Musicians, artists, producers, and songwriters tend to negate the psychological characteristics of their trade. The main reason is that it is not physically tangible. There are no pads to bang on, microphones to hold, or strings to strum. However, psychological skills exist and need to be considered.
1. Managing Your Energy
Harvard Business Review did a study on the common solutions to exhaustion and declared that time management as a cure. As many in society, we have embraced this as the golden rule and it has failed us. Time management is a necessity in our lives but it causes us stress and fatigue. Energy management must be incorporated into our lives.
The human bodies energy mostly comes from the mind, emotions, spirits, and the body itself. You can renew your energy easily by taking breaks between practice sessions, songwriting, or any activity that is too long. By staying organized, physically healthy incorporating mindfulness, and being good natured can assist in managing your energy.
Confidence is an essential function in mastering your psychological skills. Lack of confidence can lead to writing uninspired songs, performance mistakes, competitive fear, and a lot of negatives unbuildable attempts that fail at succeeding.
Confidence must be nurtured. It is a delicate task that needs to be properly approached. Start by stating realistic goals maybe a song a month for songwriters, or finding a comfortable alternative to the key to sing in for the artist, moreover, a smaller crowd to perform in front of. Start small at building confidence and slowly grow.

With all the noise the world is blaring, it is hard to filter what is important and what is just lost frequencies trekking the air. It is easy to get lost in the emotion of music and energy of the experience. One would have to be able to decipher what is necessary and what will make you better.
Focus is a task that requires a quiet mind. Several different thoughts can go through your head on a moment to another. Many of those thoughts are not conducive to what you're doing and hurt your project.
A good way to keep the focus is to build the puzzle. If you are creating a song, focus on the instrument. How does the finger placement or movement on the instrument translate to your song? In performances, many artists and musicians find themselves keeping rituals to help focus.
